Ontario, Canada & Other Provincial NUANS

A Nuans is a mandatory submission to incorporate a company anywhere in Canada when you are requesting a named corporation (e.g. ABCDEF Investments Ltd.). The Nuans is a five page printout listing the most similar corporations, business names and trade marks to your proposed name. A preliminary name search is done prior to ordering the NUANS report to check name availability. This is done as a precautionary measure to see if the name that you are requesting infringes on any businesses already in existence throughout Canada.

In Ontario alone, there are almost 1.5 million corporations registered, this listing does not included the small businesses registered in Ontario or trade marks that have already been established.

Providing a name that is unique and distinctive to you and your line of business is crucial. A corporate name should have a distinctive element and a descriptive element to separate it from existing names.
