Preliminary Name Search
When incorporating
a company a Nuans report is a mandatory submission. This is a six page
document listing similar named corporation, businesses and trademarks
throughout Canada.
A preliminary name search provides you with the ability to search a potential business name for conflicts against existing names within the Nuans databank. The preliminary search provides exact matches to the proposed names but is not designed to provide results that are visually or phonetically similar nor is it a replacement for the actual Nuans report. The preliminary search may assist you in the name selection process and guide you in the pursuit of name availibility.
The system may also be used to view a potential existing business name to verify if the exact business name is listed on the Nuans databank system.
The provinces and areas that provide corporate information to the Nuans databank are Ontario, Alberta, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and the Federal government. Other provinces and areas corporate information may not be available through the Nuans databank system.
Providing
a name that is unique and distinctive to you and your line of business
is crucial. A corporate name should have a distinctive element and a
descriptive element to separate your business name from existing businesses.
